Lanchester 40hp sold and living in Australia .......
THE KING'S SPEECH
"Great film" is the verdict, winning all the awards going it seems. However, it was ruined for me by the inaccuracies of the cars supposedly used by the Duke of York, who later became King George VI.
He always used Lanchester cars for his non-state duties, but, instead, the film producer gave him Rolls-Royces!
Oh, the indignation of it all, as his 1936 18hp Lanchester, his 1939 Straight-8 limousine and also his 1939 Straight-8 landaulette are still in existence and raring to go!
With these Lanchesters in the film, it would have won even more awards ............ is there a BAFTA for the best cars?

This fabulous 1924, 6.2 litre landaulette has now left the United Kingdom for a new life in Australia. Before the departure, the new owner, Mark Gray, participated in the 4-day 2010 Lanchester Register Rally in Northumberland. Such an impression was created that the car was voted the best there and duly won the Lanchester Register Shield. After a drive to Somerset in the Lanchester, Mark arranged for the safe shipping. He has an off-the-road 40hp already, as does his passenger on the UK trip, fellow-Australian, Tony Falstein. Mark's new Lanchester (pictured here at sunset) should provide even more inspiration to finish his other exciting restoration projects.
We trust you will bring it 'home' to the UK each year for the annual Lanchester Register Rally, Mark?
